What is an MOT and what does the session look like?
Body Composition MOT
Achieve your fitness goals with our Body Composition MOT, a thorough and personalised assessment designed to provide you with valuable insights into your physical health. This service combines precise measurements and advanced analysis to help you understand your body composition and tailor your fitness journey for optimal results. An MOT is a great way to track your progress, giving you a clear sense of achievement.
Unlimited MOTs in Personal Training packages or available as a stand alone service.
1. Detailed Measurements:
The first part of the MOT involves taking measurements of the following key body areas:
Neck
Chest
Arms
Waist
Hips
Thighs
Calves
These measurements allow me to accurately assess your overall physique and track changes over time. Regular evaluations help us create a much clearer picture of how your body is changing when we take them again at your next MOT, and illustrate how your diet and training is affecting your physique.
2. Body Fat Analysis
Using body fat calipers and the Jackson Pollock method, measurements are taken from the chest, tricep, back, ribs, hip, abdomen and thigh.
These readings are used to calculate your body fat percentage, giving us another metric to evaluate your progress and body composition.
This method is highly regarded for its accuracy and is a vital part of the MOT process.
Once calculated, your lean body mass (LBM) can be worked out and compared to previous MOTs. Over time this can indicate muscle gain or loss reflecting your progress in the gym.
3. Visual Documentation
One of the most simple and effective methods for tracking progress is documenting your body compostion with photographs. Taken at regular intervals, these can reveal massive changes that may not be as obvious through other measurements.
The sense of accomplishment once you reach your goals and compare your current photographs to that of the start of your journey can be immense!
4. Calorie and Macro Calculations
At LANFITNESS, we understand that everyone's fitness journey is unique. We specialise in calculating personalised calorie and macronutrient (macro) plan tailored to your specific needs and objectives, whether it's losing weight, building muscle, or improving overall fitness. Our approach will ensure you have a clear plan to reach your desired goals effectively and sustainably.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), explained below, are key concepts in understanding your body's energy needs. As part of the MOT, calculations are made of your BMR and TDEE which assist us in setting realistic nutrional targets to help you work towards your goals.
BMR refers to the number of calories your body requires at rest to maintain essential bodily functions, such as breathing, circulation, and cell production. This measurement is influenced by factors like age, gender, weight, and body composition.
TDEE is the total number of calories you burn in a day, incorporating all activities, including exercise, daily tasks, and other movements. TDEE is calculated by adding your BMR to the calories burned through physical activity.
